Other information: KIOCL Limited - established in 1976 - operates the Kudremukh Iron Ore Mine in Karnataka. It also runs a pellet plant (comprising crushing and grinding facilities, balling drum and disc,; roller screens and travelling grate furnace) at Panambur, Mangalore, where the firm also has a blast furnace (inner volume 350 cubic metres; furnace temporarily suspended in 2017). KIOCL is State-owned, and reports to the Ministry of Steel.

The annual capacity of the Pellet Plant is ~3.5 million tons of iron ore pellets / year. Pellets produced at the Mangalore Plant have excellent metallurgical properties and are an ideal feed for Blast Furnace and DRI operations. KIOCL pellets have 63% Fe content.
