Other information: The National Mineral Development Corporation Ltd (NMDC) was incorporated in 1958 as a Government of India fully-owned public enterprise. NMDC is under the administrative control of the Ministry of Steel, Government of India.

Since its inception the company has been involved in the exploration of a wide range of minerals including iron ore, copper, rock phosphate, limestone, dolomite, gypsum, bentonite, magnesite, diamond, tin, tungsten, graphite, beach sands etc.

NMDC is India's single largest iron ore producer, presently producing about 30 million tonnes of iron ore per annum from 3 fully mechanized mines. These are - the Bailadila Deposit-14/11C, Bailadila Deposit-5, 10/11A (Chhattisgarh State) and the Donimalai Iron Ore Mine (Karnataka State).

The company also operates a coal based Sponge Iron Unit, with a capacity of 2X100 TPD. This facility is located at Paloncha, Khammam (Dist), Telangana.

NMDC has the following accreditations:

• ISO 14001:2004 - EMS Certification for all its production mines
