Other information: Qatar Steel is recognized as a leading EAF steelmaker in the GCC region. Production operations are mainly based in Messaieed Industrial City, 45 kilometers south of Qatar’s capital, Doha where Qatar Steel’s corporate headquarters are based.

The main production site at Messaieed includes direct reduction plants (DRI and HBI), the steelmaking plant (which comprises several electric arc furnaces, associated ladle furnaces, continuous casting plants, two bar rolling mills and a calcined limestone plant). Liquid steel capacity at Messaieed is ~2.5-3.0 million tonnes.

The Company also operates a UAE based subsidiary – Qatar Steel Company, Dubai - which rolls billet into bar.

Main products made by the firm include direct reduced iron (DRI), hot briquetted iron (HBI), steel billets and 8-40mm diameter reinforcing steel bars.

• The SOLB STEEL Company - a Saudi Closed Joint Stock Company established in December 2008 to meet the growing steel demand of Saudi Arabia. The SOLB plant is located in Jazan, southern Saudi Arabia, and consists of a 1.0 million metric ton per annum Steel Melt Shop (Billets) and 1.0 million metric ton per annum of Rolling Mill (Rebar). • FOULATH HOLDINGS. Foulath is a Bahraini closed Joint Stock Company established in June 2008, comprising a group of commercial/industrial companies that engage in the manufacture of iron ore Pellets, Stainless Steel Flat Products, Light, Medium and Heavy Beams and Structural Steel Sections. Qatar Steel owns 25% of Foulath.

In 2006, Qatar Steel received a UKCARES Quality Management System and Product Conformity in Steel Certificate for Reinforcement of Concrete (BS 4449) for rebar sizes varying from 10-40 mm.

In 2008, the firm was awarded the Dubai Central Laboratory (DCL) Product Conformity in Steel for Reinforcement of Concrete Certificate. This was for ASTM A615 Grade 60 and BS 4449:1997 Grade 460B 10mm - 40mm diameter reinforcing bar.

In 2016, the company became the first integrated steel plant in the GCC region to achieve ISO 27001: 2013 certification for Information Security Management Systems.
